Thierry Mugler Menswear Autumn Winter 2011

Well, we all knew to expect something dark, weird, and spectacular from Nicola Formichetti‘s first collection as Creative Director at Thierry Mugler. The pieces were a great start to reviving what was once an incredible fashion brand (remember the metal catsuit? I LOVE the metal catsuit.) And aside from the utterly terrifying face tattoos, I think there are actually a lot of interesting pieces in the collection that could be worn by brave guys. And I love that everything was styled in a way that…makes an impact. What more would you expect from a brand whose creative also styles Lady Gaga?

I love…

Thierry Mugler, Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga, menswear, autumn winter 2011, fall 2011, menswear catwalks, fashion shows

that we were expecting mega-weirdness for this show, and Formichetti delivered.

Thierry Mugler, Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga, menswear, autumn winter 2011, fall 2011, menswear catwalks, fashion shows

that's there are some wearable pieces in this collection.

creepy plastic raincoats and bizarre puffas.

that someone is giving Garethe Pugh a bit of competition.

I loathe…

Thierry Mugler, Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga, menswear, autumn winter 2011, fall 2011, menswear catwalks, fashion shows, tattoos

that these tattooed guys scare the hell out of me. Who tattoos their face like that? Who? I'd like to see what becomes of them in 20 years.

OMG → Alexandra → This show was an utter disaster… Honesltly, I feel sorry for the many unheralded Men’s fashion designers out there who just don’t happen to be Lada GaGa’s stylist; and therefore do not get the privileged & prime opportunity to lead a famous House like Thierry Mugler. Half of the looks in this “collection” look like they were designed for a fishmonger! Ridiculous… I cannot imagine myself, nor anyone I know wearing even one piece from this abomination. A slap-in-the-face to actual talented Men’s fashion designers… Uggghhhhh…

But, I still think YOU’RE awesome, Alexandra! :-)

It’s funny I saw this guy in the pages of Dress to Kill magazine 2 weeks ago (he’s from Montreal). My thoughts were: Who does that, this guy could NEVER ever get a job, he tattooed his future away… and weeks later, he’s modeling for Thierry Mugler?!

Yes, but what will happen in 20 years when he is wrinkly and gross and looks
like a TOTAL freak. I hope he makes enough off Mugler to live the rest of
    this life without working.
