Burberry Prorsum Autumn Winter 2011

What’s wrong with this Burberry collection? It is as if creative director Christopher Bailey took inspiration from his previous collections, rather than looking at something new. The bright colours are reminiscent of the neon accents from the last collection. The coat fabrics and ugly hats are straight off the menswear catwalk. Is Bailey too busy tweeting to actually bother to design? Don’t get me wrong, there are many beautiful coats in this collection, and I’d wear a lot of them. But Burberry is supposed to be a fashion brand and sell us a lifestyle, not just a place you can pick up a great coat for $5,000.

I love…

a beautiful green coat.

the clasps on the front of this coat. But the shape looks very similar to previous seasons...

these fur shoulders.

I loathe…

that this coat and horrible hat were on the menswear catwalk.

the military look we always, always, always see at Burberry.

trying to mix too many materials in one garment and ending up with something that looks like a mistake.
