I’ve never truly understood why Rodarte is the golden child of American fashion (or golden children.) I’ll agree that their collections are definitely more innovative than most of the mainstream American designers, but I’ve always felt that they don’t merit the attention they’ve gotten (and remember the $500 socks?) Some of the pieces here look like the type of thing I’d see one of my fashion students design, and I’d tell them it is ugly. It looks like a mish mash of ideas, with little cohesion, and made from weird, unattractive fabrics. Aside from a few beautiful dresses, this collection didn’t get me excited.
I love…
I loathe…
