Don’t get me wrong, I love, actually WORSHIP Karl Lagerfeld. For me, he is the top designer of our time, in fact, he deserves the accolade of best designer ever. But jeez, this guy knows how to stick his foot in his mouth. On the other hand, sometimes he comes off as a genius. Here are a few crazy great quotes from an interview he did with Bruce LaBruce for Vice magazine a while back.
Karl Lagerfeld the Pretentious: “I like to know everything; I like to be informed. I am not pretentious. I can speak several languages. I can read in every language.”
Lagerfeld on sex: “And I personally only like high-class escorts. I don’t like sleeping with people I really love. I don’t want to sleep with them because sex cannot last, but affection can last forever. I think this is healthy. And for the way the rich live, this is possible. But the other world, I think they need porn. I also think it’s much more difficult to perform in porn than to fake some emotion on the face as an actor.”
Largefeld on possessions: “It’s nice when you can afford something, but the minute you become a victim of it you shouldn’t keep it.”
And my favourite, Lagerfeld on why he doesn’t do drugs: “I saw others doing it and I didn’t think it was such a success.”
