Yves Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2012

After all these rumours that Raf Simons was going to take over at Yves Saint Laurent, you’d have thought that Stefano Pilati was at least going to TRY to make a nice collection. But he didn’t. At first I thought this show was Oscar de la Renta, then I got bored, and then I just thought it was bad. Aside from a few pretty dresses, which didn’t feel Yves Saint Laurent at all, this show was quite lame.

I love…

these little dresses with the trumpet skirts.

a fun dress.

I loathe…

an outfit that looks like boring Oscar de la Renta

a jacket that is quite simply a bad idea.

a really ugly white blazer, which reminds me of the tacky white suits my husband and his friends bought in Prague as a joke.

I feel like all the clothes are SO oversized… too big for my taste and very little YSL. I liked the pruple&pink skirt with the white shirt… then again, so not YSL…

    Disturbing..

ok not pilati’s best, but his collections have always been fairly amazing and beautiful. raf simons ALREADY does a great job at what he’s doing (his own label, own sub label, jil sander), i don’t see him taking over at ysl. at least you can see quality in the fabric and construction in these clothes that exude luxury and elegance regardless of whether it’s sexy simply bad. very retro :/

Agree that its pointless to move Raf to YSL. He should stay at Jil Sander, he is doing a bloody good job there. If YSL wants a new designer, they need to look elsewhere.
