Love: The Ultimate Shoe Subscription

Net A Porter, amazing shoes, Christmas, gift guideIt is inevitable that during the run up to Christmas we will hear of insanely expensive, over the top presents that will be unlikely to end up anywhere near our tree (Neiman Marcus limited edition speedboat for $250,000 anyone?) So I am not expecting this Net A Porter shoe subscription (nor do I want it. I do love the stock on their site, but the shoe selection is pretty tame.) However, I think it is a good idea. You buy the subscription for someone, then they get a pair of shoes every month. So yes, if you have a few grand to spare, and you need a gift for a shoe fetishist, then this is a good idea. Although, the type of person who will be receiving this gift is likely to be the type who can afford ten new pairs of shoes a month, so I guess it wouldn’t be as exciting as I think. My questions are, do they get to choose the shoes? Or does someone choose them for you? I guess I could have inquired but I couldn’t be bothered. Personally, I am setting myself up for disappointment this year as last year I got Alexander McQueen jewellery and an Hermes bag, whereas this year I will probably be getting a much needed new washing machine. Children DO change your life.

Not much of a fan of Shoe Dazzle… http://searchingforstyle.com/2011/05/loathe-shoe-dazzle/
I’d rather spend that money on one pair of shoes, rather than twelve very cheap pairs.

I’ve bought quite a few Shoe Dazzles and although the quality is not great…the fact is I’m not wearing 4 inch heels on a daily basis, so I don’t mind picking up a pair here and there since they get so little use anyway. Some of the styles are fun, and I’d rather spend 40 bucks on a pair of stilletos I might wear 4 times a year vs $1000 on a pair of Louboutins I’d wear the same amount. I have noticed recently most of the styles have become quite tacky (maybe they’re running out of ideas??), the marketing is getting old and all your sentiments in your post about “stylists personally choosing your closet” is laughable at best. I am all for purchasing good quality shoes and bags but sometimes it’s just fun to pick up a cheapie pair of stilletos for the hell of it.

Agree. If they are party shoes you are only going to wear a few times, then it is definitely not worth spending a lot of money. I spend the most money on the shoes I am going to wear every day. But I wouldn’t buy from Shoe Dazzle, simply because I refuse to support anything that Kim Kardashian is involved in.
