2012 Golden Globes Red Carpet

A quick look through the Golden Globes red carpet left me pleasantly surprised, most of the dresses were quite tasteful. Here are my loves and loathes.

I love…

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Angelina Jolie, Versace

Angelina Jolie in this glamourous Atelier Versace dress.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Charlize Theron, Dior Couture

Charlize Theron in elegant, sexy Dior Couture.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Claire Danes, J Mendel

Claire Danes in this incredibly chic J Mendel dress.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Emma Stone, Lanvin

Emma Stone in Lanvin. It is cutting it a bit close with the slits and decolleté, but she looks good.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Evan Rachel Wood, Gucci

Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci. The textures and the feather hem on this dress means it looks fantastic on the red carpet.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Michelle Williams, Jason Wu

Michelle Williams in Jason Wu. I love a sleeve on the red carpet, and this dress looks amazing.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen. I usually don't like boring strapless dresses, but her messy hair gives this a look of effortlessness and that somehow makes it ok.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Rooney Mara, Nina Ricci

Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci. Yay that she is wearing an interesting dress from an unexpected brand.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Salma Hayek, Gucci

Salma Hayek in Gucci. The geometric design on the bodice looks surprisingly elegant and unique, although she does look very short and stumpy...

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Zooey Deschanel, Prada

Zooey Deschanel in a beautiful Prada dress. The green and black look great together.

I loathe…

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Kate Beckinsale, Roberto Cavalli

Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli. Yawn. Big yawn.

red carpet fashion, Golden Globes, celebrities, Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman in Versace. I don't know what is worse here, the fact that she looks plastic, a pale dress on her pasty skin, or her accessory, that tacky husband of hers.

Angelina rules! And Yey for Rooney.  I loved Tilda’s outfit as well. As always.

i disagree with anao, i feel like tilda is becoming less effortless and becoming a bit forced with her looks. i’m surprised to see michelle williams and reese witherspoon in your love list! i thought that purple looked hideous and that reese’s dress had some fit problems in the chest. angelina jolie looks stunning, as usual =)

Yes, I was hesitant with Reese Witherspoon, and it is definitely not a perfect fit, but I like that it is styled in a relaxed way. And with regards to Michelle Williams, think we are just going to have to agree to disagree on that one. I love that dress.

Wow your loyal readers will remember this post: there IS a strapless dress that you like!! LOL
I personally didn’t like Reese’s (i love the girl, the dress did nothing for her boobs!) My favorite was Claire Danes, have you seen the back of that dress?! The pictures don’t do it justice (or maybe it’s because of my new LCD TV?)

    I totally agree… and
Evan Rachel Wood looks astonishing on that risky-business dress. I had mixed feeling about Michelle Williams, but since she’s wearing adress that completly fits her style, I think it works.
I was very sad to see some very young girls (aka Lea Michelle) dressing like they’re 30…

I really liked Michelle Williams’ dress, but I think the headband detracted from it, and Emma Stone’s dress didn’t need that huge butterfly belt. it did need a belt, but not that one. However, I still really loved their outfits.
