Armani Privé Spring Summer 2012

I feel mean saying this, but while I love Armani as a brand and designer, I actually dread looking at his shows. They feel so repetitive, and this one was no exception. Armani fitted skirt suits? Check. Strapless evening gowns? Check. Safe, neutral colour palettes? Check. Shiny embellishment and fabrics? Check. I’m a bit bored.

I love…

a beautiful full skirt with snakeskin textures and lovely draped pockets.

evening dresses worn with sharply tailored Armani jackets.

I loathe…

opening the show with a boring Armani suit. Do we need this in couture? Keep the boring suits in the RTW collections.

these iridescent fabrics whose colouring looks slimy and gross.

I had high expectations for this season but good Lord, it was plain terrible in my opinion. Nothing to get excited about. There was only one dress I liked from Givenchy and I thought Elie Saab had nice color palettes. Not even Stéphane Rolland got me as happy as I expected.
