I expected more stewardess references in this Chanel collection, since the show was on a plane, but it is probably better that there weren’t too many. Apparently Karl Lagerfeld was tired of the red carpet, and wanted a blue carpet (notice how he can say the stupidest things, and get away with it?) The collection features lots of gorgeously simple day dresses, lots of pockets (I love pockets!), a great play on volume with lots of puffy sleeves reminiscent of 1960′s Balenciaga (or more recently, Giambattista Valli) and well as the other couture basics: tons of astonishing handwork and embellishment. Despite the fact that there was a lot going on, there was also something clean, clear, and simple about the collection, and it most definitely was a clear winner amongst the shows so far.
I love…
