It seems like ornate fabrics and heavy embellishment is a big trend on the Milan catwalks (Versace’s crosses, Bottega’s chunky brooches, and Gucci’s brocades) so Dolce and Gabbana‘s black and gold religious garb fit right in. Some of it worked, and some of it didn’t, but I’d say there were far more winners than losers in this show. I just wish Dolce and Gabbana would shorten their shows a bit, I like when a designer delves deep into a theme, but I think they could have gotten the message across with 20 less looks. It is all about the 40 look show these days, we don’t have the patience for more.
I love…

Pierrot collared blouse, sexy bra on show, skirt weighed down with gold embroidery.... it is all too much but I love that Dolce and Gabbana can do this.
I loathe…

that the cape seems to be having a comeback (Gwyneth will be a cause of this too.) Such a silly garment, totally unpractical and always makes you look like you are trying too hard.
P.s. One more thought here, I am curious about how they are planning to replace the D&G collection, if the mainline is so heavy and formal? There doesn’t seem to be much here that will appeal to the D&G customer.
