Jil Sander Fall Winter 2012

Well, it is the end of an era, and while I think that Raf has done a wonderful job at Jil Sander, I am ok that he is leaving for Dior (at least, that is what we THINK he is doing) and that Jil Sander is going back to her namesake brand. What I am not ok with is Hedi Slimane, the one trick pony (actually two trick pony: skinny pants AND shitty black and white rock-style fashion shoots) is going to YSL. But that is a story for another day.

This collection was quite predictable: beautiful, minimalist shapes, an interesting colour palette, and a play on simplicity with just the right amount of design features. A great final collection for Raf Simons at Jil Sander.

I love…

this perfect combination of pink and brown.

a very elegant pale pink outfit.

all these beautiful, voluminous coats.

that Raf SImons can do a strapless dress beautifully.

I loathe…

a tacky one-piece. Showing off sternum is just not that nice.

the shiny fabrics in this show. They didn't fit in with the rest, which were very luxurious and elegantly colourful.

I’m so totally in love with his coats. Seriously, even if they’re big, they still manage to look femenine… and that kimono pink dress is just beautiful

I also liked the fact that he used neon details in some of his shoes, kind of “I know neon is out there as a trend, but I’n not just going to surrender that easily” THANK GOD

is he leaving the mens department for jil sander too? he was truly great at jil sander. he brought the best of raf to the table! overall his collections for jil sander were way better than for his own label (he did have a couple collections for his namesake brand that were AMAZING though, ie: his neoprene collection and snake themed one)

what is going to happen with stefano pilati? he was amazing, i loved his collections. i can vividly remember his mens collection using a mostly white palette and used skinny belts and paint effortlessly stained on the clothes. absolutely beautiful! BAH sadness

I am sad for Stefano Pilati, there have been rumours about his dismissal for ages. It is so unprofessional.
