I haven’t looked at the Marni for H&M photos yet (I’m never a big fan of these overhyped collections) so perhaps I am missing part of the story as I critique this collection. I also know that Marni, aside from their accessories, is never going to blow me away, as it simply is not my style. But I can appreciate the aesthetic, sometimes. The retro contemporary looks Consuelo Castiglioni sent down the runway looked fairly nice, but her main silhouette, a dropped waist coat, looks bulky and unflattering. Even if you are the Marni type, who probably doesn’t favour the whole bodycon look, I still don’t think you want to look fat. And most of the models did.
I love…

this look: the haircut, the glasses, the graphic top, the cropped trousers and the white socks. Contemporary retro at its best.
I loathe…

a highly unflattering coat. I am always surprised when the models look chubby. Imagine what a real person will look like.

that with all the new technology and techniques used in fur, Marni has still managed to make it look very heavy and bulky.
