Prabal Gurung Fall Winter 2012

Prabal Gurung‘s show had three distinctive parts: a beginning that was freaking gorgeous, a middle that had a few scary parts, and an ending that was mostly nice but not perfect. The beginning of the show featured modern, futuristic dresses and separates that were chic, modern, and interesting, but at the end he took those ideas a bit too far. Although I saw a few too many Alexander McQueen references, I found this show to be very impressive.

I love…

that Prabal can make a cape look young, modern, and desirable.

pretty dresses worn over flared trousers. This looks so cool and fresh.

the cut of this dress, it looks so modern and slick.

I loathe…

the tacky blue material on these sleeves. It was all so chic until now.

that this reminds me of Alexander McQueen.

wow everything looks very sharp and impeccable (jason wu’s collection looked a bit sloppy imo). also gotta agree with you on the bottom looks, i think we’ve seen enough super-vibrant print shit the past couple seasons

Yes, there are too many designers doing those prints. It was new a few years ago, now the technology isn’t very exciting. Wish he’d skipped those, and the Sesame Street fabric, and his collection would have been perfect.

Didn’t it make you think of Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy? Like, immediately? Perhaps not these looks, but a few others were almost rip-offs. I desire the opening cape, however.

Yes, there were some similarities at the end of Prabal’s show.
