Rodarte Fall Winter 2012

Everyone seemed to be so hyped up about the fact that George Lucas was at Rodarte‘s show. Sure, it might be marginally exciting if he is doing a movie and he plans on getting the Mulleavy sisters to design the costumes, but other than that, who cares? I mean, the guy isn’t exactly the most exciting celeb in the world, why was everyone so worked up about it? What WAS exciting was that Rodarte actually put together a beautiful, coherent, and elegant collection this season. Sure, there were a few pieces of ugly knitwear and unflattering cuts that have for some stupid reason become a signature of theirs, but most of the collection was actually very beautiful, while still incorporating some of their surprising fabric/texture combinations. I thought it was very beautiful, and if the prices points aren’t RIDICULOUSLY high (which they usually are, see here), then this collection might actually be a commercial success for them too.

I love…

a very simple, understated coat dress.

that Rodarte can do chic. I am pleasantly surprised.

All I kept noticing at this show was the terrible state of the models’ legs.

i was waiting for this post! i was expecting a bad review at first since the first several looks on the runway were atrocious, or their ugly niche shit whatever, but at least they managed to crank out a majority of nice clothes! i was thinking, why couldn’t they have just eliminated the fugly ones that are CLEARLY fugly?

Because without the fugly pieces… It wouldn’t be Rodarte!
