Victoria Beckham Fall Winter 2012

It truly boggles the mind that this woman has managed to build a fashion company based on the same tight dress repeated over and over again. There is no substance, no story, and no design in Victoria Beckham‘s collections. How is it possible that she is winning fashion awards? She is the prime reason why I am losing faith in the fashion industry. Any other designer would not have been allowed to last this long, but Beckham has leveraged her fame and her family to infiltrate an otherwise difficult industry, and has been allowed to peddle her shitty designs on an international stage simply because of her name.

I love…

That this show was quite short, so the suffering was kept to a minimum.

I loathe…

opening the show with an utterly boring, predictable tight dress. Seriously, is this STILL all she does?

a very boring coat. Come on, Beckham may have no design skills whatsoever, but surely her design team can come up with something better than this?

another tight dress, but this time it is in a frightening colour and there's been an attempt at a design feature on the sleeve cuff.

Victoria Beckham's signature shape, and the reason why I am embarrassed to be in the fashion industry.

I personally like her aesthetic (if its only hers at all) and I do see a lot of women wearing her pieces. May be they are a little expensive, but when a woman decides to spent a fortune on a dress who can stop her?
The thing is that fashion has become an industry for wealthy people only and there’s no chance to become a fashion icon overnight if you haven’t invested thousands of dollars into education, fabrics, studios, whatever. The girl has money and she’s using it quite well I should say. Her things are selling very fast (from what I see on net-a-porter) and there’s no need for a change or whatsoever to her designs. And I do respect your opinion but Francisco Costa and all other minimalist designers are not doing something different than Victoria Beckham. At least in my eyes.As a whole though the collection was not as interesting as I expect from her. I liked her very first fashion collections the most.

LOL, I wonder what her inspirations were this season :P

Hi Alexandra! :) I’m new here, been trawling through close to 20-odd pages of your website and I totally love it! =D I share very similar opinions with you on fashion pieces and celebrities (the emma watson article brought me here haha). but i’m no means “fashion-forward”, “fashionable” or “well-versed” in anything that is fashion, far from it! however, I did look through the photos of Beckham’s recent designs.. and it can only be summed in a few words: atrocious and downright boring.

everything is in the same sort of silhouette and the coats were utterly boring. I see much better ones at high street fashion stores. and what’s with the stripes across the first dress? (there were a few of them at that show). i simply don’t get the hype of this woman and her “fashion designs” and i don’t see anyone around here buying her stuff.

that said, nice blog!! i read it everyday, love your posts! :D

I have to admit, I like some of her pieces (not the ones featured here, though), but I totally agrre that everything is very familiar one season after the other… like it’s just one collection where’re seeing, cutted in pieces. Maybe she should stop bothering with the shows, and just do a collaboration or something, with no runway, so it wasn’t so obvious?

Thank you! And you don’t need to be fashion forward or even fashionable to recognize that Victoria Beckham’s designs are rubbish… although by the sounds of things I am sure you have better taste than her!

Or maybe she should just stop bothering with designing, and go back to lip synching bad pop music.

She has it in for pants. Meanwhile pants everywhere are rejoicing for not having to sport the Victoria Beckham logo.

I find her designs extremely boring and for the most part very unflattering as well. I’m completely mystified as to why she receives such high praise as a designer.

I suppose there is no real mystery here: she is famous, has a huge team and budget behind her, and is great with journalists. Talent does not equal fame, fame, money and connections = fame.

  • Frankly…

Thank the Lord that someone has the intelligence and eloquence to out this bloody disaster of a woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a sign of the times that the Fashion Industry in this time of uncertainty is willing to pedal this (stupid diseased PR’d to hell) waste of space.
It’s confirmed – Fashion Industry success can be bought as well as earned!!!!!!!!!

WHAT A SHAME!!!!!! But I believe that we all know what the people who really count think.

All those who protest at this stance have an emotional investment in keeping the door open after losers like this make it BIG in Music or Fashion. It leaves them with a feeling of hope that they might also get through to extreme success on LITTLE TALENT & INTELLIGENCE. Just saying……
