Christian Dior Fall Winter 2012

So the latest rumours are that Raf Simons is not in fact going to Dior, and Bill Gaytten has signed another contract (I am trying to get info from my Dior contact as I write this, but they don’t appear to be in the know either. I knew about the Galliano fiasco before she did, because she was on holiday.) Anyway, I’m bored of the rumours and speculation, and I am going to stop having fearful heart attacks every time a new rumour comes out (Christopher Kane at Dior?!?! God help us!!!!) because they are all false leads.

And that is fine, because Gaytten seems to be doing a fine job where he is. This collection was lovely, nothing crazy or spectacular, just really nice Dior clothing. Which is probably why they are making so much money, the journalists might not be loving it, but it is exactly what the customer wants.

I love…

the lovely twisted neckline of this top.

the way these raglan sleeves turn into a gathered neckline.

all the gorgeous tailoring in this show, I love this interpretation of the bar jacket.

a stunning black gown.

I loathe…

when satin looks cheap.

The ones you’ve chosen are beautiful indeed, but there was lots of tackiness in the show as well. The final gowns! And all the embellished satin, of course.

Yes, the satin wasn’t very nice. But I liked most of the gowns at the end, they just weren’t amazing enough to mention.

I keep thinking they should give these guys some space and let them work without all the “who’s going to be the next Galliano” drama. I mean, isn’t designing for Dior pressure enough? do they really need to be into all this speculation too?

The satin piece was not impressive, don’t like the embellishment,it’s a boring piece of work.
