Atelier Versace Fall Winter 2012

I wasn’t impressed with Atelier Versace‘s spring collection, and this one is no better. It reminds me of cheap bridesmaid or prom dresses, and that is the absolute last thing you should be thinking about when looking at couture. There was some construction techniques with strips, which worked in some places, but in other places…yuck. Although, I doubt that will stop celebrities from wearing this stuff on the red carpet.

I love…

the construction of this dress, the printed strips look quite cool. But there’s a really bad care of armpit muffin top going on…eeek.

a stunning dress, but I hope they plan on lining the chest.

I loathe…

what looks like a slutty prom or wedding dress. I know that’s what Versace is about, but I’m bored of it.

more of those bridesmaid dresses you’d expect to see on the catwalk of a tacky wedding fair.

a stripper-off-duty dress. Is this really couture?

iridescent organza and badly fitted bodices.

Many of the dresses were simply unflattering, or will be unflattering in the “real world”,  on anyone who isn’t exactly a teenage, underweight model. Wild muffin tops, breasts falling out of the dangerously cut bodices…

Totally agree, though some nice pieces, that shiny organza ruined everyhing for me. (And reminded me of the princess-dress I sew together with my grandma when I was nine.)
