Here’s part two of my critiques of the September magazine covers. Read part one here.
I love…

Lindsey Wixson on the cover of Flare. As far as fashion glossies go, I love Flare because they almost always use models on their cover, and there’s actually good stuff to read on the inside. This issue is no exception.

Keira Knightley on the cover of British Harper’s Bazaar. I have no clue why she’d be on a magazine cover (is she doing something big that I just don’t know about?), and I don’t particularly rate her as an actress, but at least she looks great here. This cover feels very “September.”

a bunch of girls on the cover of Vogue China. While those printed suits do look quite heinous, the overall colour and print scheme here looks really nice.
I loathe…

Nicole Kidman on the cover of V. I actually thought this was a joke. She looks like a man (worst profile angle EVER) and who the hell wants to see Nicole Kidman’s BUTTCHEEKS on a magazine cover. Yuck!

Ymre Stiekema on the cover of Vogue Netherlands. She looks ok, but this is a fall issue, and as far as I’m concerned, no top and no pants look does not cut it. This is not fall fashion.

Rosie Hunting-Whiteley on the cover of British Elle. Again, shorts, on a September issue cover. It is wrong. And I don’t like the fact that she has been dissing the modeling career, but is of course still doing it because she is trying to promote her new lingerie collection. She is a “designer” now, you know.

Jamie Bouchert on the cover of Pop. Nevermind the gross graphics, am I the only one who can’t figure out why Jamie Bouchert is a model? Aren’t models supposed to be pretty?

Penelope Cruz on the cover of W. This is super boring, and her glove is blending in with her hair so it looks like she’s got some sort of giant, ridiculous hairdo happening.

Eva Longoria on the cover of Lucky. Ok, I know Lucky always does these boring generic cover shoots,, so I guess I understand this. But the fact that she is wearing shorts annoys me, as does the fact that the headline is “What she’ll wear to Michelle Obama’s house.” Is this really what magazines have resorted too? Is that a newsworthy headline?
