Bottega Veneta Spring Summer 2013

I’m a little bit sad about the direction that Bottega Veneta has taken in the past few seasons. Gone are the perfectly simple, strong, statement pieces in rich jewel tones, instead we are seeing boring floral dresses and looks that lack excitement or interest. Sure, Maier’s genius artistic hand was visible, in the cuts and print combinations, but this collection didn’t feel right for Bottega. It lacked the sharp elegance and soft structure we have come to associate with the brand.

I love…

a gorgeous draped dress, with the perfect balance of structure and softness. More of these, please.

dresses made of strips that don’t look slutty.

I loathe…

boring floral dresses that belong on Mulberry or some other typical British brand’s catwalk.

too many patterns and textures in one outfit.

an appliqué disaster.
