Nina Ricci Spring Summer 2013

While I love that Peter Copping seems to have properly captured the essence of Nina Ricci and still add his own hand, this show wasn’t particularly impressive. In fact, it felt very lukewarm. I disliked the shiny fabrics and the overdone draping, and felt that many of the separates and dresses were quite boring, although that may also have to do with the fact that it is 5:55 in the morning and I am beginning to suffer fashion month fatigue. I suppose the Nina Ricci customer isn’t looking for loud, statement pieces, she just wants to look pretty, and in that case this will do the job.

I love…

a draped turquoise dress with lots of bits that flutter and move.

silver flapper dresses.

I loathe…

sheer, shiny, metallic raincoats. This is too vulgar for Nina Ricci.

when a dress looks like someone went a bit crazy draping on the stand, and overdid the tassel ribbon.
