Valentino Spring Summer 2013

Following the spectacular Valentino FW13 couture show, I had high expectations for SS13. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as impressive. But fortunately, it was pretty nice. Lots of beautiful dresses and luxurious textiles, my only complaint is that there was a lot of filler in this show. They could have removed twenty looks and edited this show down to a more civilized length, and we would have all been the better for it.

I love…

a perfect mix of leather and sheer.

the ability to take historical costume references and turn it into something very modern.

the seventies style dresses Hedi Slimane TRIED to do for Yves Saint Laurent. But he failed to do them right, this is what they should have looked like.

the long sleeved, full length gown. Can the red carpet please have more of this? Maximum skin does not equal maximum beauty.

I loathe…

too much boring filler on the runway.
