Loathe: London Fog Campaign

london fog, alessandra ambrosia, ad campaigns, victoria's secret, fashion photographyI am sure there will be some readers who will think that I am being squeamish, but I find this campaign quite disturbing. I don’t have a problem with hanging around naked with your kids, nor kissing them on the lips (I personally don’t kiss my son on the lips) but I have a major problem with anyone who does this for a major ad campaign. It might be more acceptable for a magazine editorial (some of them are quite portrait-y and feel less commercial than this), but to pose like this for an outerwear company strikes me as ridiculous. Victoria Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio and her 4-year-old daughter Anja look lovely, but nudity does not exactly sell coats. Or maybe it does? But why anyone (especially someone whose net worth is $40 million and clearly does NOT need the money) would want this type of intimate family portrait being used for a commercial clothing campaign is totally beyond me.

I often wonder if celebs take these sort of gigs just to build a really awesome family album. They make a big block of cash, and they have intimate moments with everyone looking beautiful in these stunning photographs done by the world’s best photographers. I suppose they sacrifice privacy, but maybe in twenty year’s time it will be worth it.

That might be the only reasonable excuse as to why they would do something like this.
