I’m taking a short break (a few hours) from catwalk coverage to have a look at the red carpet from the Oscars last night. While I wasn’t really wow-ed by anyone, generally the dresses were more good than bad.

Halle Berry in Versace. This crazy machine-like dress looks quite good.
Helen Hunt in H&M. I love her hair, her natural makeup, and the fact that she is wearing H&M, too bad her stylist forgot to iron it first.
Catherine Zeta Jones in Zuhair Murad Couture. Gold and glamorous.
Jennifer Aniston in Valentino. She does that girl-next-door look so well.
Jennifer Hudson in Roberto Cavalli. Hot!
Jessica Chastain in Armani Privé. It’s not particularly exciting, but she looks very elegant.
Nicole Kidman in L’Wren Scott. Lots of black, gold and sparkles.
Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrera. I can’t see the front, but she looks stunning from the back.
Samantha Barks in Valentino. What’s not to love about a super simple black dress?
Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab. I’m sending a trend here… the black evening gowns are the winners.

Adele in Jenny Packham. Is this amazing? Or too mature for her?
Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen. Is this beautiful or tacky?

Anne Hathaway in Prada. The whole nipple/dart debate ruined this for me, and I think her hair sucks.
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture. I would have loved this, were it not for that 80′s bustier neckline.
Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood Couture. Two words: car crash.
Kristine Stewart in Reem Akra. This is an unflattering dress that resembles a wedding gown and is totally not her style. And what’s with the forced smile? Don’t they teach celebs how to fake smile? She IS an actress!
Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton. That straight across neckline is super unflattering on her and makes her upper body look too big.
