Richard Nicoll Fall Winter 2013

Simple, clean, sporty, and slightly boyish can usually describe most of Richard Nicoll‘s collections and this one is no different. Highlights include a mix of textures, include luxurious wools and high shine leathers, and an easy but interesting palette of pastels and neutrals accented with a few bright colours, including a vibrant tangerine. I’m sure most women would find a few great separates in this collection that they’d wear to death.

I love…

the shape and colour blocking of this coat. But the execution is not great… the hem looks terrible.

a very cosy looking grey coat and that lovely chevron top underneath.

Nicoll’s signature look: effortless, easy, and modern, with a lovely mix of textures.

a great mix of oranges.

a great mix of oranges.

I loathe…

taking the boyish, sporty look a bit far. Although this might look better without that hideous hairstyle.

I liked the shiny fabrics – definitely made it fresh :) But the orange, the same orange I’ve seen on every single fall ’13 show so far, pisses me off. I hate when I see so many similarities between different shows. Where’s the fun with screwing up with editors and showing something totally off-trend? (I stress though – something totally off-trend BUT beautiful for the eye. Not the crap from Thom Browne or Jeremy Scott :D)

But the magazines only want to write about trends, so the designers need to fit in to get press…

Very nice. I even don’t mind the last look.
