Versace Fall Winter 2013

Versace, are you kidding me?!?! This is one of the worst shows I have ever reviewed in my entire life. Bad on an epic scale. Imagine Avril Lavigne decided to design a collection of outfits for strippers but no outfit could cost more than $40 so everything had to be cheap, cheap, cheap! So she used the cheapest looking pleather she could find, but added a bit of her punk signature, in the form of studs and hideous punk graffiti on tees. Got the idea? If that was the case, I’d say well done, you have succeeded. But this isn’t Avril Lavigne for Strippers’r'Us. This is Versace, which is supposed to be a luxury brand, which is supposed to have this amazing legacy, and which is supposed to design things that someone other than a broke stripper would want to buy (and let’s face it, most strippers make more than bloggers, even fashion writers, AND they have much better taste than this.) This was so bad, I had to comment on ten outfits, which is a lot since my reviews normally only include about five. Here we go… the Versace Fall 2013 DISASTER…

I loathe…

when something is so tacky I can’t even articulate the words to describe just how tacky it is.

Milan, catwalk, runway show, review, critic, fall winter 2013, versace

that this looks like tacky punk gear you’d find in a store where everything is less than $20.

cheap pleather dresses. And if this isn’t pleather, it is just as bad, because when leather looks like pleather, it may as well just be pleather.

that there aren’t regulations about how a designer can use fur. Because no animal deserves to die and be made into THIS.

Milan, catwalk, runway show, review, critic, fall winter 2013, versace

a dress that looks like someone projectile vomited zebra print and shiny stuff onto a model’s body.

any outfit that makes the model look like a Russian prostitute.

Versace… are you fucking kidding me?!?!

Milan, catwalk, runway show, review, critic, fall winter 2013, versace

that this whole collection looks like a collaboration with Avril Lavigne.

an epic red carpet disaster in the making.

that this duo almost reduced me to tears.

this really was a disaster :D however, I am sure stores would buy it and sell it like hot bread. :D Donatella is not stupid and she knows what she’s doing. It may be a bad collection now, but I am sure she will pull out something great next season, just to balance. She won’t risk losing what she already has.

This has to be one of the worst collections I’ve seen for AW13. Yikes what was she thinking? I have to admit, the AW13 collections so far haven’t really been that great. There were a few nice pieces here and there but nothing spectacular. Mary x http://wwww.popgoesfashion.com

Agree, so far only Donna Karan and Prada have gotten me excited. Looking forward to Paris, hopefully there will be some amazing shows.

I think you are giving her more credit than she deserves.

  • Dimitar

I definitely didn’t intend to give her credit for the collection, but somehow, especially lately, the fashion industry proves that ugly sells when you practically sponsor all fashion magazines that exist. Plus, I had another thing that crossed my mind – recently, Versace was low on being noticed – this actually may be a PR move to bring attention to the label (with a crappy collection that is). Because PR is PR, no matter good or bad.

Agree about no press being bad press. And let’s face it, they probably make 99% of their money on sunglasses, perfume, and other licensed products so the clothes don’t even matter…

  • Dimitar

True, but it’s unfortunate to have the resources and not use them.

Of all I had seen by far David Koma it was the best. I liked the crochet dresses of Prada and Fendi coats. This season is so weak. I can wait to Paris save this season. Anyways Versace for me it is being tacky for a while.

Milan is turning out to be quite decent. Bottega and Cavalli were nice, maybe Milan will save the season.
