Here are my five favourite fall winter 2013 fashion shows. Sadly, there are no young brands here, nor any London shows. Let’s hope next season we see some better work out of London. (Want to know my ten least favourite? Scroll down.)
I love…

Valentino. Such a pretty show, with beautiful yet commercial clothing. This is going to sell like hotcakes.

Donna Karan. This was Donna Karan at its best: elegant, classy, uncomplicated, flattering clothing for the modern working woman.

Prada. This show was ladylike and beautiful, with all those wonderful details that makes Prada one of the top fashion brands.

Céline. The past few seasons have been a bit scary (furry Birkenstocks, anyone?) so it was a relief to see Philo back on form with this super minimal, effortless collection.

Balenciaga. Not only was this a good-looking show, but it was a HUGE relief to see Wang has not developed some kind of freak ego (Slimane comes to mind…) and he just did exactly the right thing: add a bit of Wang to the Balenciaga archive, with a nod to Ghesquiere’s work. Phew!
Honourable mention goes to Roberto Cavalli. Sure, he did his usual slutty, over the top collection, but all in dark sombre colours actually made it look quite slick and beautiful.
And the loathes? If you’ve read my reviews, you’ll know already, but the shows that really and truly sucked were Marc Jacobs, Versace, Balmain, Tom Ford, Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton and the special award of CRAPPIEST SHOW EVER goes to Saint Laurent. Click on the names to read my reviews, or even better, forget they ever happened.
