Chanel Fall Winter 2013

I’ve been complaining for a few seasons that Chanel looks repetitive, old, and boring. Well, I am thrilled to announce that this season, it isn’t! Karl Lagerfeld has delivered the usual formula of tweeds, black dresses, and heavy embellishments, but the shapes and outfits were young, modern, and voluminous. I actually enjoyed flipping through the marathon eighty looks.

P.S. Did I detect a bit of Cher Horowitz in this show?… The pleated minis and thigh highs… The sheer dress at the end… Or is it just me and I try and see a bit of Clueless in everything?

I love…

that Chanel is actually looking fun, interesting, and not the same as the past five seasons.

when there’s way to much going on in a design!

I couldn’t agree more. Chanel has been throwing at us amounts of looks in the past seasons that have very little modernity and originality in them (I liked the Scottish-insipred show though, and I guess trat was the turning point). But after seeing both sides, I believe that Mr. Lagerfeld either goes very boring or suddenly turns to the complete opposite and tries to win the younger public to the brand: terribly old, or terribly young, like in this case. Because lets be honest… his older clientele is not going to be able to pull off those minis (however wonderful they are), and young people wouldn’t like to be caught dead in one of the dresses he’s been showing in recent past shows… so I don’t know. I see him a bit like a pendulum. He confuses the hell out of me… but I’m glad his back to showing something interesting.

Honestly I thought this was an ok collection. Loved the accessories as always but the clothes itself are not appealing to me. I think they did a great job styling the rock chanel girl we already know. I wish he worked with the tweed like Maxime Simoens did with some pieces for this fall collection.

Maybe you are right, maybe I am just loving it because it is so much less boring than the last few shows, and I’m getting really excited that fashion month is almost over!

Yeah, but I guess everyone buys the bags and perfume, and that’s what makes them money ;-)
