Lanvin Fall Winter 2013

It is nice to see that Lanvin has evolved a bit. Not that I had a problem with the ruffle-y and peplum-y dresses he has been showing for several seasons (they are beautiful), but it is good to see some new ideas. I really like all the tailoring, in fact, there were a lot less dresses than usual in this show. I saw a lot of Sonia Rykiel influences, the jewelry that said things like “love” and “help”, and the diagonal pleating, but those are probably only things you’d recognize if you’d worked there. If you didn’t, you’ll probably look at this show and think “that was very nice.”

I love…

the way Elbaz can cut a perfectly smooth dress.

layers of white ruffles worn with long leather gloves.

chic, simple tailoring paired with a very long black fox (or a few foxes, I suppose.)

tons of gorgeous coats and jackets in this show.

wearing your jewelry on your sleeve. That’s “cool.”

I loathe…

that this looks more Ann Demeulemeester than Lanvin.
