Spring Summer 2013 Campaigns Part 3

Here is part three of my reviews of the spring ad campaigns. Read part one and part two here.

I love…

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, tom ford

Karlina Caune by Tom Ford for Tom Ford. This looks awesome!

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, nina ricci

Arizona Muse by Inez and Vinoodh for Nina Ricci. A pretty image for a pretty brand.

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, lanvin

Karlie, Daria, and more by Steven Meisel for Lanvin. Dramatic, serious, and beautiful.

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, dior

Daria and more by Willy Vanderperre for Dior. I like the new modern, minimal Dior look.

I loathe…

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, kate moss, rag & bone

Kate Moss by Alistair McLellan for Rag & Bone. Really? Could this be any more predictable?

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, mcQ

Manon Leloup by David Sims for McQ. The whole S&M thing doesn’t feel right here.

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, stephanie seymour, jason wu

Stephanie Seymour by Inez and Vinoodh for Jason Wu. I thought Jason Wu was meant to be classy, not trashy.

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, celine

Daria Werbowy by Juergen Teller for Céline. This does nothing for the clothes.

fashion magazines, fashion photography, ad campaign, advertising, brian atwood

Eva Herzigova by Mert and Marcus for Brian Atwood. Her face looks bad and it is so predictable to advertise a shoe brand with a naked girl. Can’t they find some clothes to go with the shoes?

Marc Jacobs ruined Juergen Teller for me. Whenever I see his photos, I think MJ… even if CELINE is scrawled across the front of them.

That looks nothing like Stephanie Seymour in the Jason Wu ad. If you hadn’t given her name I would never have known it was her. If you are going to use a 44 year old supermodel don’t photoshop her to be unrecognizable.

Agree. Teller’s style is so distinct and it’s now linked to Marc Jacobs. On a funny note… Some of Teller’s work includes a personal series that includes a photo of one of my CSM fashion tutors sitting naked in a tree. Not what I wanted to see! 😉

    I know!
