Michael Kors Spring Summer 2014

This is not my favourite of Michael Kors collections, but by no means is it a fail. There were the usual chic American sportswear seperates, and lots of tan – a signature of Kors. What I didn’t like were all the seventies pieces, which reminded me of Marc by Marc Jacobs or Bottega Veneta (I know it is crazy to mention those two brands in the same sentence, but if you look at the whole Kors collection, you’ll see where I am coming from.) On that note, there are still a lot of lovely things to buy here, and I’ll take the snakeskin skirt, please.

I love…

crocheted knits for summer, and mixing grey and tan.

when designers find ways to work fur into spring collections.

a full skirt made of snakeskin. LOVE!!!!

this print and these colours. But where’s the model’s top?

I loathe…

a sheer white top and pants – the Michael Kors ghost is not a good look.

all these seventies looks – they are off-brand.

I love the green print skirt. I might be alone in this (vegans aside)but I have never been a big fan of animal print designs–at least the faux prints (the real ones are probably out of my price range. I can’t put my finger on it–have been trying to embrace them for years(as they seem to be closet staples)–may be they are trying too hard? However this snake skin skirt is exceptional. I love the movement it has–not the heavy structure I associate with animal skin–plus I love how it could complement other pieces instead of just overpowering them. Your thoughts Alexandra?

I thought the skirt was real snakeskin! I think it is… I like it a lot less if it isn’t.
