Tom Ford Spring Summer 2014

It was almost impossible for things to get worse than Tom Ford‘s last show, so I was thrilled to see he’d turned things around. There as a great deal of Gucci pieces here: sublimely worked leather or sexy embroidered dresses and it’s all about the leg. I’m a huge fan of cocktail dresses with long sleeves and Tom Ford has followed the rule of only baring one asset with his mini hemlines. Of course if you are wearing one of these dresses you’re hardly showing off one asset because they are pretty much sexy the whole way down.

I love…

that this reminds me of the awesome leather Tom Ford used to do for Gucci.

lots of sweet leather jackets with mini skirts – a look that never fails.

a textile technique that looks very impressive.

when sequins look classy.

I loathe…

when designers try and dress superheroes, not women.

There’s a dated, ‘stuck in an era’ feel about TF’s collections. Perhaps his clientele are rich older women, in which case, perfect!

Agree it looks dated, but in a good way. Although I think it’s hard not to like this collection considering how crap his last one was – there’s a lot of Gucci here which I love. And yes, his clients probably are
rich, older women because the price point is up there with Chanel.

Really enjoying this collection. Great improvement from the last few.
