Valentino Spring Summer 2014

Valentino has been kicking ass lately, and there are certainly some kick ass pieces in this show. However, I was slightly uncomfortable with the interpretations (read: copies) of traditional dress, mostly Indian. Rather than be inspired, they just replicated. But aside from that, there were a lot of beautiful pieces and if you are the ethnic fashion loving hippy, renaissance, puritan girl with a wardrobe full of embroidery, fringe, and suede, then you’ll love this show.

I love…

that I could wear this dress every day until spring.

beautiful fabric embellishments.

thick horizontal stripes.

all the fantastically rich textiles in this show.

I loathe…

when some of the pieces look like they were bought them from a market stall that sells Indian clothing.

I looooved those short dresses, so much, I actually hope the high end stores will copy them, although I think that’s a shame normally. And the short jackets! But I’d style them with less colorful items. (If I had the money…)
