Christian Dior Couture Spring 2014

This Christian Dior couture show was a vast improvement on last season, featuring structural silhouettes with modern bell sleeves, clean oversized shapes, and flirty A-line skirts. The ateliers created some fantastic materials by working chiffons and taffetas into beautiful textiles, and aside from a few disappointments (and the fact that this kind of looks like Giambattista Valli), I’d say this show was pretty good.

I love…

this loose, floaty dress that is falling off the shoulder.

another lovely oversized silhouette.

that they did a lot of interesting, textural work to the fabrics this season.

cocoon shapes. Especially when they are made from delicate strips of fabric.

I loathe…

that this looks like bad fashion student work.

really unflattering inserts.
