Saint Laurent Fall 2014

Ok, full disclosure, there are actually quite a few pieces in this Saint Laurent collection that I would actually wear and enjoy (the leather jackets come to mind.) But I would never pay more than $200 for them, and that’s where the problem lies. This isn’t designer clothing. It’s tat picked up from thrift stores and styled on models who like like they hang out in the seedy pubs in Camden. I wonder if I’m simply too old to appreciate this, but I also know that there aren’t many twenty year olds who can afford $3,000 dresses that look like they are from Topshop. So who is this actually supposed to be appealing to? And more so, who is actually buying this? Because I’ve heard it is actually selling very well. Although I’m not convinced that’s a reliable fact.

I love…
Some of the cute leather jackets in this collection. But they don’t look designer – and they aren’t worth $4,000 – so therefore I loathe them, too.

I loathe…

Where’s the design aspect? This just looks like a stylist threw some looks together using vintage pieces and items from a 20 year old’s Topshop filled closet.

I think that IS the design concept, hence why it sucks.
