I’ve kept it no secret that I am not a fan of Isabel Marant, and I still think that it is one of the most overrated fashion brands in the world. I’ll give her credit for a few nice items of clothing, but the hype surrounding the label is not warranted. It’s just not that interesting, cool, or good looking. But I guess her anti-internet policy and her “I hate famous women” quotes have actually turned her into some sort of fashion celebrity herself, and her brand has done very well as a result.
Anyway, I stumbled on these boots recently and thought I should feature them. I will give Marant credit for designing a few not-so-disgusting comfortable shoes that women can wear in their day to day life. What I disagree with is the way people get obsessed with them and how each becomes a shoe icon when it is released. Let’s take this Beslay boot, as an example. It looks like an Ugg boot. It’s unflattering, expensive, and frankly, ugly. And it is certainly not worth $550. Yet people are excited about it, just because it is Isabel Marant. Open your eyes! It’s a glorified Ugg boot. And it’s more expensive. Move along people, nothing to see here.
