Paris Fashion Week Spring 2015 Part 2

I’ve yet to be truly excited by any collection this season. Let’s hope the last shows of Paris impress. For now, here is part 2. Read part 1 of my Paris shows here.

I love…

that Chalayan is making wearable, beautiful dresses free of gimmicks.

this cool, cute Isabel Marant dress. Her designs are usually nice, but the hype around the brand is silly.

Undercover’s amazing trench coat.

when Maison Martin Margiela looks clean but interesting.

Maiyet’s seriously beautiful tailoring.

that there is something in Junya Watanabe’s collection I would actually wear (this t-shirt.)

Haider Ackermann Spring 2015. This is a really nice collection.

that while no one is actually going to wear their catwalk stuff, Comme des Garcons is still doing crazy ass sh*t.

that Celine looks modern and elegant, even though the collection is a tad bit over designed, in my opinion.

a floaty white Chloe dress. This is a wardrobe must-have.

this slick coat from John Galliano. Although I disapprove of the fact that this brand is still in business. I don’t see the point.

that Akris wins for best minimalist collection this season.

I loathe…

catwalk, runway shows, fashion, runway report, fashion critic, spring 2015, paris, paris fashion week, pfw

that JW Anderson’s Loewe is kind of sloppy and over designed.

catwalk, runway shows, fashion, runway report, fashion critic, spring 2015, paris, paris fashion week, pfw

when Christian Dior is a whole lot of nothing special.

catwalk, runway shows, fashion, runway report, fashion critic, spring 2015, paris, paris fashion week, pfw

that Mugler looks American and boring.

when I wonder if there is any point in wearing a top at all? I think Acne Studios forgot one of the main purposes of wearing clothes.

that this is Jean Paul Gaultier’s last RTW collection, because he knows how to put on a show. You will be sorely missed!

Kenzo’s weird collection. This isn’t cool or hip or modern and I thought that was supposed to be what the brand was doing these days…

that although Givenchy was quite sexy and slick, it feels like the whole thing is being designed for Kim Kardashian. And that’s a horrible thought.

Hi Alexandra, could you please explain further what do you mean by “over designed” in a collection? Too many details? Too many different inspirations?
    Thank you very much!

Can’t wait to see your reactions on Chanel and Saint Laurent – think I know which pile they’ll end up in…

I usually mean too many details and ideas put together in a way that is not intentionally cluttered or patchwork. It just looks like there wasn’t enough editing during the fittings. Some designers can do 10 ideas in a garment and it looks amazing, others cannot. Sorry – not very clear but I hope you understand what I mean!

I can’t stop staring at that JPG model and her hips. Like, she has hips, and she’s on a runway, and she looks like she’s having fun, instead of like a 17-year-old Norwegian boy having a grump. Amazing. Feel like I just time travelled.
