Dries Van Noten Menswear Fall Winter 2010

I still obsess over Dries Van Noten‘s Fall Winter 2009 Women’s collection. He knows how to transform classic garments into discreet statement pieces, without over doing it. He has an incredible knack for combining colours. He is also the critic’s designer, counting Suzy Menkes and Cathy Horyn as his customers. (But Suzy doesn’t just get it for free, she actually buys it with her own money, which says a lot.)

I Adore…

this look. I can't put my finger on why it is so perfect, maybe the classic pieces, the colours, combined with the proportions, but whatever it is, it looks right.

the binding details on this trench.

another great trench coat, this time with a patterned lapel.

the absolutely beautiful colour in this outfit. Navy suit, olive shirt, burnt orange shoes, and rich brown bag.

this casual, effortless outfit and perfectly balanced proportions.

I Loathe…

this look, where the colour contrasts and the sleeveless coat don't work.

the contrasting sleeves.

another sleeveless trench coat.

I’m Torn…

about this puffa jacket. Is it cool, or silly?

about the details on this jacket. The binding looks great, but are the sleeves too much?
