It would be very nice to see John Galliano try and do something modern for Christian Dior, rather than the historical references he usually uses. But then again, the way he draws on historical costume, and turns it into beautiful clothing that fits into a modern wardrobe, is great. I’ve only been to one Christian Dior show, and it was the Spring Summer 2000 Couture show, inspired by the tramps John saw while running along the Seine in the mornings. Although the clothing wasn’t exactly glamourous, the production was amazing, and it looks like all Dior shows are amazing performances. And, I have been told that their clothing sales are very high and make up a large part of their business, which is unusual for a luxury brand. Most luxury brands make their money from perfumes, handbags, cosmetics, eyewear, and other licensed products, but Christian Dior and Burberry both have very strong clothing businesses as well. (That’s probably thanks to my fabulous friend Susanna who designs the Christian Dior womenswear with John

I Love…

fur, and beautiful ways of using fur, like the strips of it on the cuffs of this leather coat. And the socks are amazing.
