Menswear Spring Summer 2011: Prada

I usually seriously love or really loathe Prada‘s menswear. On one side, they do perfectly cut suits, shirts, and knitwear with clean, simple interesting lines, but extremely wearable. On the other side, they do weird things like crop tops for men, or, in this collection, super ugly shorts that look like skirts. I guess this is really the type of brand that does a killing with their commercial pieces, but maintains the following of the fashionistas by sticking in weird things like fanny packs.

I love…

simple lines and well-cut tailoring.

more great lines. The collar of the shirt meeting the neckline of the sweater is perfection.

Prada goes beach bum/skater and makes it look cool.

a cool twist on traditional nautical knitwear.

I loathe…

sweaters tucked into shorts. Shorts that look like skirts. And bum bags (UK term) or fanny packs (US term) on men. In fact, they look bad on everyone, especially when they are oversized.

a feminine silhouette for a guy.

looking like you just threw an oversized jumper over a white dress. That's not menswear.
