So the latest news is that Stella McCartney is teaming up with Morrissey (the ex-lead singer of cult indie-rock band The Smiths) to create a line of vegan footwear.
I am not a fan of Stella McCartney, I know I am biased and say mean things about her, but I feel I am justified in disliking her because:
1 – Lets face it, without Daddy in The Beatles, she wouldn’t be anywhere near where she is
2 – As a graduate from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, I can appreciate how annoying it would be if one of my classmates decided to hire her “friends” Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell to model at our graduate fashion show, resulting in one student getting all the attention. That is what Stella did, and I think she is a bitch for doing it.
3 – She is not a very talented designer. Pheobe Philo did all the good work at Chloe, and Stella got a great design team behind her in London. The only reason why she is still around, is because someone there (maybe her?) has some mage business smarts. I heard that Gucci Group was close to dropping her a few years ago because the brand wasn’t profitable, but someone had the great idea to team up with Le Sportsac and adidas, therefore bringing in $$$$ and saving the brand. Now she is rolling on the “I’m ethical” bandwagon, so she is getting quite good exposure, and the business is doing well.
4 – OK, we are bored of seeing your Dad at every event. I mean, can’t Stella do something without her famous father turning up? She has milked that connection…and it’s getting boring. Does he come over every time she opens an envelope?
5 – I can appreciate she doesn’t want to use leather, but HOW is is justifiable to sell plastic shoes for 700 dollars. That is ridiculous!
Anyway, the announcement of the Morrissey collaboration makes me groan. He whines too much, she depends on her Dad’s fame for everything, he wears bad shoes, her shoes are a rip off. A recipe for disaster I think.

I made a collage to show you all what the collection might look like...
Sorry for this mean post, but I really just don’t like that woman and I am not afraid to say it. One of the most terrifying moments of my entire life was when I heard the rumours that she was going to replace Karl at Chanel. OK, it was a few years ago, and clearly just a rumour, but the simple mention of that is enough to give me nightmares for the rest of my life. Shudder….
