Olympics Fashion

November 17th, 2009 at 7:01 pm

I would have never thought to write a post about Olympics fashion, in fact, the two words don’t even deserve to be in the same sentence. But I am currently researching an article for a trend magazine about clothing associated with the Olympics, and I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the gear Canadian brands have released in association with the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. The Bay, Aritzia, Kootenay Knitting Company, and a few others have come out with some really nice stuff. Really nice meaning not horrible tourist tacky, and worthy of buying as a Christmas present for my niece and nephew in Sweden. Please note, this is not an endorsement to start wearing printed t-shirts and sweatshirts outside of the gym.

From Hudson’s Bay Company:

This is a fun way to put a national anthem onto a t-shirt.

This is the only way I would consider wearing a t-shirt with a national anthem printed on it.

From Aritzia:

Like the American Apparel socks, but even more authentic.

Like the American Apparel socks, but even more authentic. I presume they are knee high.

From Kootenay Knitting Company:

Pretty tasteful, considering this is the Olympics!

Here’s what I bought for my niece and nephew in Sweden, from the Bay.

This Canuck t-shirt is so cute, not many SWedish preschoolers will be able to compete.

I also got this really cool stuff for them. It is so great that you can get cool kids toys now, I refuse to buy from Toys’R'Us, but thankfully there are alternatives.
